Abstract. The development of teleprocessing systems is actually an evolutionary step in the development of computer systems. It is important to understand that current teleprocessing hardware and programming techniques are not innovations in the computer industry that have changed radically over the past three decades. Most teleprocessing systems have been developed in recent years, and the potential benefits of these systems have been recognized by early computer users. The communication lines required to transmit and receive data signals are offered in various classes and speeds. Line interfaces are usually separate blocks of electronic circuitry connected to the communication line and terminal. Interface blocks can be purchased from a regular teleсom operator or computer. If the interface is obtained from an IBM, the communication lines are usually privately owned or leased from a general carrier. Switched (dial-up) lines usually use common line interfaces.
